Good morning!
Just a few reminders:
* Progress reports are due back on Monday.
*Book reports are due on Wednesday ONLY IF your child wants the extra 10 points. (Otherwise,
they're due the day we return from break.)
*Thanks to Mikey for letting his gecko visit last week!!
There is no tutoring this week; we'll resume that first week in January.
Merry Christmas to you all!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
And with that, I know our kiddos are a wee bit ansy! (as much as I am??) This week and all through the time we take our break, we will really just have 3 main focus points for me to be a happy teacher. (it goes without saying that we need Jesus above it all, right?)

- We'll still keep up Math work. After the test on Wednesday, we will review decimal operations and begin to work with ratios.
- History moves on! I like this part of the year, as we begin to study the new colonies and pertinent people who helped to found them. We see how founders looked to God!
- We'll read! We'll be discussing more about our book reports and applying concepts that help us with comprehension while we finish the novel we've been reading in class.
I've got a few surprises up my sleeve and quite frankly, I'm excited to share them all!
Hope you all found some rest in this weekend. Blessings to your family! Love this verse.....
"Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn
or the coming of rains in early spring."
Hosea 6:3

It's an exciting time of year, anticipating the celebration of the birth of our Lord. I hope we celebrate every day, but Christmastime is special.
I'm looking forward to spending the month together praising our Father, watching for Him, and rejoicing in all He does in our lives!
"not to us, but to you, O Lord, be the glory." Psalm 115:1

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
Praise and thanks be to God!
I pray you'll all have a refreshing break this week and enjoy God's blessings together with your families.
No homework over break, but reading now and again for book reports wouldn't be a bad idea!
I'm thankful for YOU and the joy in teaching your children each day!

Mr. Boisvert "texted in" a turkey joke this week. It was perhaps not THIS hilarious, but the sight of your children laughing together was too good not to stage again and show you!
PSALMS 126:2"Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing:then said... The LORD hath done great things for us."

A big "THANK YOU" to our veterans at HCS!
I pray that God will be your strength- your ever present help in times of trouble, both at home and abroad, at work and at home, on duty or off. That His peace which passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Psalm 46, Phillipians 4:7)
Thank you for your service, Veterans.
This week at school we have a quiz or a test every day! In History and Language especially, these are smaller quizzes in order to prepare for a test next week. If your student studies 10-15 minutes a night in these subjects, he or she will have no problem!
There is Math homework on Wednesday, but I will see that it's light and that we begin in class. Current event articles are due on Wednesday. Your child has been encouraged to talk with you about their assigned article.
I will tutor in Math on Thursday until 4 p.m.
Reminder: Report Cards are due back by WEDNESDAY.
Blessings to you and your family.

I love how folks think more and more about what they're thankful for during the month of November.
Facebook says that the Thankfulness in November is a fad. We know it's a command! This is just a good time to remind ourselves from where our good gifts come..
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
James 1:17
The 2nd 9 weeks is upon us! We're well into routines and prayerfully, good study & homework habits. Let's keep in touch; our partnership will help your child to do their very best.
Keep in mind:
>The canned food drive is still on!
>Tutoring will be Thursday until 4:00
My prayers are with you and your beautiful families!
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Colossians 4:2

Happy Monday!
Hope you and your families enjoyed your weekend....even with a project due this morning!
These posters look TERRIFIC! Thank you for your help and support.
A couple of things:
-Tutoring will be held TUESDAY this week until 4:00 p.m.
-Graded papers will come home on Tuesday. I apologize for the delay.
If you have any questions or just want to discuss how your child is doing, I'm here!

I miss my 6th graders!
Don't get me wrong, I had a great weekend and enjoyed my family, but I'm looking forward to Monday!
Thursday and Friday's ACSI Conference was inspiring and challenging. I did my share of sitting, but it was worth it. One of my favorite "take-a-ways" was about the importance of modeling thankfulness, especially in our culture today.
Another crucial topic, I thought, was helping our students begin to form their Christian Worldview.
At home I hope you're seeing life through the lense of eternity and sharing it with your children as much as you can!
A full week lies ahead. We finish Black Beauty this week, start to learn about the geography and indigenous Indians of the eastern United States, and practice math skills in groups.
I'll pray you have a productive week and see God's hand at every turn!
Blessings!

I'm sure the kids are looking forward to tomorrow being a Thursday/Friday and no school for a day.
Meanwhile, I really am looking forward to meeting with many of you.
Just thought I'd make sure the message got conveyed that the Canada notecards are due on MONDAY, Oct. 14 (I guess the 4 got omitted- sorry!)
We had a talk in class today about plagiarism and being careful in that arena.
Also, students can practice the Canadian provinces/territories and capitals here:
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/Canadian_Geography.htm
We'll have a quiz next week.
One last thing- I will still tutor on Thursday (tomorrow!) until 4 pm.
Hope you'll enjoy a wonderful weekend with your family.

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." 3 John 1:4
And they did while I was out sick on Friday! The class is to be offered a thanks for their good behavior and keeping the class running smoothly (with jobs, following procedures and what not).
Remember: No School for students on Friday. Lucky ducks!
If you'd like to schedule a conference, it's not too late. Just call the office @ 838-7427. Be sure to preface if you'd like to meet with Mrs. Stewart as well. She has a different schedule than I do this year.
Progress reports are do back on Wednesday, and pictures will come home on Monday. They're SO cute! (okay, handsome, boys.)
Students should be studying their History maps this week. It's Map Mastery #4 on p. 363.
Also, there will be Language References to study this week. (a Test not until the following week)
Blessings to you and your families! I'm overjoyed to be teaching your children!

Happy October! (almost!)
We've learned so much already, but the year is just getting started!
Progress reports come home this week and conference day is coming up next Friday.
Please call the office if you desire to meet. I'd be happy to discuss your child's progress and how we can best make this a successful school year for you and your child.
Math tutoring will start this Thursday. All students are invited, none are required.
I LOVE teaching your children. Thank you for giving me the opportunity!
Rejoice and live in God's grace this week!

Good evening! I hope your evening is less eventful than mine. After a car that wouldn't start in Smithfield and no house keys when I arrived home, I'm about ready to call it a night!
Tomorrow's History Test will be rescheduled for Thursday. We will review this week and be ready!
Students will take an OPEN BOOK quiz tomorrow to help them prepare.
I will be out Tuesday spending time with my sweet Mom who came up from Georgia, but I'll still be praying for those fantastic 6th graders!
Blessings to you!

They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.

Praise God for another week beginning at Hampton Christian. To top off His already wonderful plans, it's Spiritual Emphasis Week! If you're able to spend some time with us in the morning from about 8:20-9:30, we'd be happy to see you as we could partake in the Word together as Pastor Das brings it to us.
Students have already been bringing in donations for N.Y.S.U.M.- how terrific! Mrs. Stewart's classes always take up a collection and it truly is a blessing to the team's recipients. To find out more about what NYSUM does, visit: www.nysum.org

I praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven because everything he does is right and all of His ways are just!
Daniel 4:37
Well..... They're right! Your children are telling the truth. I just cancelled Math homework for this evening. (Now, you can get ahead and do it for tomorrow night.....)
Praise God! He has been among us this morning in chapel for sure! I mean, I know He's never far from any one of us. (Acts 17:27) It's just that this morning, whole scores of students from 6th -12th grade came forward to receive prayer about wanting God to "make" them. For the Holy Spirit to indwell in them, for the students to be able to give their whole heart to God, whatever He may call them to do and however He calls then to live.
Pastor Ralls spoke this morning and truly touched the hearts of our 6th grade!
So, our schedule is a bit off today. We did have math class, but haven't had a chance to complete practice problems, and I would like to do them with them in class before I set them off on their own.
I pray each one of your children knows the height and depth and breadth of God's love for them!

1 Corinthians 2:9-10
New King James Version (NKJV)
9 But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”[a]
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
I continue to wait expectantly (and celebrate everyday!) for what God is doing and what He'll continue to do in the lives of our children. We're off to such a strong start. I can tell, you've laid the foundation well, Parents!
Please feel welcome to join us for Back-to-School night on Tuesday at 7p.m.
You'll get a little more insight on what your child's day looks like, hear about grading, classroom procedures and have the opportunity to ask questions, see student work, and fellowship with other parents.
I hope to see you there!
p.s.- If it makes a difference in what your child wears to school tomorrow- we're PAINTING!! It's washable, but still. They should be in dress code while not in "Sunday best" if possible!
I love teaching 6th grade!

I am thrilled to Welcome our students and their families to middle school!
God has amazing things planned for all of us.
"Look at the nations and watch-- and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told." Habakkuk 1:5
Homework is posted here weekly as well as upcoming tests and quizzes. Also, check out links for websites that help with all sorts of 6th grade skill practice.
Please feel free to email or call me anytime. Middle school can be a big adjustment and I'm here to help make it smoother if possible! I'd also love to hear what God is doing in the lives of your children!

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!"
We're in the home stretch! This week, the temptation to stay up late and not study is big, but let's push hard till the end!
I will be happy to stay on Tuesday afternoon for any students that have Math questions. Math review sheets can be kept at home for further review and practice.
Enjoy your week!

Only 10 more full school days left? That seems impossible! We'll keep working hard to the very end!
We've just started reading Call It Courage in class today. It will just take us 10 days to complete. We've been looking at the fact that we trust a risen Savior who saves us from our fears!
This week we're busy in History. We finish the book TODAY! (Tues. 5/28) All other time will be spent in review.
Math review has also begun. Feel free to keep Math review sheets at home to study concepts or know where to ask more questions. Students needing extra help should speak up now!!
I pray this week will be full of joy for you. It brings me a smile to think of how far the Lord has brought us and all the plans He has for our children...........plans to prosper, for a hope and a future!

"The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."
John 10:10 NLT
Blessings in Christ be yours!
I think I'm not the only one to be glad to get things back to normal after testing last week. Math and History will procede as usual, although we had a little fun with some math review.
Tutoring this week will be for anyone with Math questions until 4 pm.
Also, the "notebook" for A Father's Promise is due on Wednesday. We spent a considerable amount of time on it in class, so there shouldn't be too much to do. There will be a quiz including many, but not all, of the 22 vocabulary words. For review, check:

It's exciting to see the students engaged so deeply during Reading class as we've begun A Father's Promise. Be sure to ask your child about what we've been reading in class. You'll find it a precious time to be reading together too!
Spring fever has hit for sure, so let's make sure we partner together to keep our children engaged and doing their very best . We want to finish strong!

Welcome back! I trust you and your family enjoyed some time off this past week.
It's time to hit the next 9 weeks and finish strong! If we commit our plans to the Lord, we WILL succeed! (Proverbs 16:3)
Academically, I'm stressing that students take their time in their arithmetic, READ more often, and keep up with a little History each day or at least every other. Also, states with their capitals should be memorized; we've been working months in class!
It might be a good time to review the handbook with your child and encourage them that we'll work as unto the Lord! He has placed us here and we will do our best for HIM! To God be the glory forever and ever. Amen!

Praise be to our Lord!
This week is spiritual emphasis week and we are eagerly expecting God to move among our students. You are invited to attend chapel with us each day if you'd like. We'd love to see you here!
Please be in prayer for our students as God speaks to each one of them.
There will be no vocabulary for Reading this week. Instead, we will be making a "story map" as I read aloud a fun little tale: "My Father's Dragon". We'll also be working on notes from what we've learned in chapel during the week.

As Valentine's Day turns the corner, we'll be remembering that God's amazing love comes to each of us! We will rejoice for HE has made us glad!

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Can you believe it's the start of the 2nd semester?
I've told the students that they can do even better than they did first semester! God's Word says, "Commit your plans to the Lord and they will succeed!"
Proverbs 16:3
This week, tutoring will begin for the Yellow group.
Also, there is an interest meeting on Wednesday after school for those middle schoolers that would like to play soccer.

Exam week is approaching! As you know, 6th grade's exams will count as a regular test grade.
There will NOT be a Math exam and the Reading exam will consist of the 20 review vocabulary words. The History Exam will be given next Wednesday. We've completed all the material on the exam and will spend quite a bit of time in class reviewing. Your child can be reviewing a little each night as well as maps to help prepare.

Praise God! His goodness is beyond discovery! (Psalm 145:3)
I hope you'll be looking out for all the goodness God has for you this week.
Tuesday is Math tutoring for the yellow group. There is a Math Test Thursday and we will be reviewing thoughroughly in both classes.
Your child should be reading the book he or she chose for the report due at the end of the month. SOME time in class is allotted (about 15-20 minutes), but reading will need to be done at home too. I'll try to be mindful with other subjects to make more time for reading.
God bless you and your families!

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
Happy New Year!
As we start the new year, let's encourage our students to do their very best, praising God for what He'll do as they trust Him!
This week, there will be no vocabulary for Reading. On Friday, there will be a comprehension quiz on the stories that we'll read in class together.
