It's been quite an interesting day!  I hope it's not too late to confirm your child's happy news:
NO MATH HOMEWORK TONIGHT!

We enjoyed a fantastic chapel today with a message from the Youth Pastor of All Generations Church.  He challenged us to be more "real" with God and make sure we're not just "going through the motions."  Pastor prayed with us and encouraged us in knowing God loves us just how we are and he'll use us how he's made us!

While many flooded the prayer room after chapel, we entertained Pastor's youngest son so he and his wife could be free to minister to others.  We managed some language arts today and a bit of history, but the math test has been postponed until tomorrow.

We're looking forward to Grandparent's Day tomorrow!

Plus, I wanted to tell you that I added a "Missionary Book Report" tab right up there next to the "Homework" tab.  (just in case your darling has misplaced the original form!)

Indea made FIRST place in the regional Spelling Bee today in her grade level!
Hampton Christian made a good showing with a 2nd and 3rd place on the 7th grade level and Emma Keller in 8th grade going to the State Championship!

We're proud of you, Indea!!!

The only homework tonight is to finish the persuasive essay that we started in class yesterday.

Thanks, Señora Rivera, for helping us to demonstrate how we are all connected in the love of Christ!  We need to work together, to help one another, and to encourage a friend any chance we get!

     I have to admit to thinking about skipping my Old Testament reading in my devotional time this morning.  It was all about the offerings given to the Lord, but I don't particularly enjoy reading about the blood and guts! (and there are A LOT of blood and guts)  There are also very particular instructions.
     I read on, and I'm glad I did.  "When you have followed these instructions from the Lord, the glorious presence of the Lord will appear to you." Leviticus 9:6

I want to be in His presence…… so let's ask, "What, O Lord, are your instructions for me today?"

It's a short week this week, so we're going to make it worth our while!  We'll skip the Spelling this week (try not to weep out loud) and no reading vocabulary (again-- no weeping!)

No open tutoring this week.  We'll resume next week.
So what WILL we do?

• Look at Paul's example of contentment in the book of Colossians.
• Math!!  Distributive Property, fraction-decimal-percent equivalents, and add mixed measures
• Write a persuasive essay, revise, edit, and publish it.  
• Begin a unit on the US Civil War

Students should be well underway with their missionary book report and memorizing Philippians 2:5. The quiz will be on Thursday this week with no school Monday.

Join us for the Homecoming Game on Friday night and cheer on our Basketball team!

-A missionary book report will be assigned tomorrow to accompany the books we picked out in the library on Friday.  Students will have plenty of time to read and complete as long as they keep up with their reading.  

-Math tutoring is on Thursday until 4 pm.

Homework is posted, but the Calendar has NOT been updated yet.  I'd like to see how we do on Monday and how much review is needed.  Quizzes for this week are posted on the homework page.
