Don't you just love the Christmas story? I always take joy in seeing how God's Word truly is "alive and active," especially when reading familiar passages.
A few years ago, God wanted me to be reminded this wonderful promise that's taken right from the Christmas story : "No word from God will ever fail." Luke 1:37
As we get busier and stress is mounting, take heart that God is near and His promises are true-- every one of 'em.
Rejoice! Emmanuel, God with us!

The LORD is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving, Sixth Grade Family! I hope your week will be full of instances of God revealing himself to you and you will praise Him for each and every evidence of his faithfulness. God is good!
There will be no homework given this week or over the break. Mrs. Stewart and I both hope that you'll be able to fully enjoy a well deserved break.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support of the Hampton Christian Schools ministry.

Happy November!
The second 9 weeks has begun and I look forward to all God has in store for us as a sixth grade family! We have been richly blessed and we'll be looking at how we can turn our gaze outward and be a blessing to others.
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." Ephesians 1:3

If you need anything, please let someone at school know! We hope you all have weathered the storm just fine, but want to be able to help if there is a need!
Lessons and homework will be pushed back a day, but the review vocabulary quiz this week will still be given on Friday...... so far!
Remember, iknowthat.com has a History quiz on it to help study for the test. (but Students, don't forget your maps!)

This week, I'm especially grateful for God's Sovereignty.
New International Version (©1984)
"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations."
"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations."
Thank you, Parents, for supporting the kingdom work going on at Hampton Christian Schools. God's ways are so much higher than ours and His Word will not return void!
We had an awesome discussion about handling anger this past Friday. We read the story of Jesus turning over the tables in the temple. I challenged students to look for opportunities for God to work through them as they encounter anything from not getting their way, to hurt feelings, or someone really making them angry. I'm excited to hear about how God is teaching our children His ways! These are lifelong lessons and our Teacher is Faithful in helping us learn these lessons!

It has been an encouraging time with colleagues from around the nation during the ACSI Convention.
There have been several "key take-aways," but one of my favorites was right from the start when Dr. Brian Simmons asked us:
"What is your vision for what you want students to become?"
There have been several "key take-aways," but one of my favorites was right from the start when Dr. Brian Simmons asked us:
"What is your vision for what you want students to become?"
...and then he shared GOD's desire for His children:
#1 to reach their full potential (through education)
#2 to serve Him faithfully
#3 to fulfill the purposes God has intended for their lives!
May we partner together to put our children's hands right in God's!
I'll be praying for you, Parents!
Galatians 6:9
New International Version (NIV)

Note Cards
I told the "red" group today, but not the "yellow". I'm sorry!
The index cards for History can be turned in Thursday (tomorrow) OR on MONDAY since we don't have school on the 12th.
Hope that's helpful!

Prayer and postponement...
Please be in prayer this week for God to do mighty things in our school and among our student body.
I specifically will be praying Colossians 1:2.
"My goal is that they will be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have full confidence because they have complete understanding of God's secret plan, which is Christ himself."
The History test originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 9th will be postponed ONE DAY.
I would like some more time to review with the students, and with Spiritual Emphasis Week, I don't want to rush!

Technical Troubles!!
that's okay..... we won't let that defeat us, right?!
The links I've assigned to each category seem to disappear occasionally. Please bear with me while I investigate the problem.
Until then, here is the link for the Khan academy:
www.khanacademy.com
The homework link seems to be working fine.
Hope you'll be encouraged today by the Word:
New Living Translation (©2007)
"For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!" 2Cor 4:17

Praise God!

Parents,
Please click on the "Khan Academy" link and create a free account for your child. Then, allow me to be their Coach. There are very short tutorials on site if you need help. ( I did!)
We will be using this in Math class! (But look at all there is to learn!)
Learning so much at VMI's STEM conference and looking forward to how God will cultivate it at Hampton Christian!

I'm glad you're here!
This is going to be a terrific year! Being in middle school means there are tons of opportunities to make new friends, learn on a whole new level, and make the most of your time here by becoming a leader in the area of strength God's given you.
Remember to "commit your plans to the Lord and you will succeed!" Proverbs 16:3
